The Parting Glass by Traditional

Traditional Scottish Song, its lyrical origins are at least 400 years old
Not an attempt to copy anyone's cover, i just found the other versions here didn't sit well with me
Not a bad tune to learn to play picking patterns with, its fairly slow and simple chords

Open tuning for key of G
capo on 2nd for key of A same chords relative to capo

key G
time sig 4/4

chord progression
G Em C D
G Em C D (1/2 bar) G

chords
G 320033
Em 022000

Suck it and see :)

   G Em
Of all the money that e'er I had
     C D
I've spent it in good company
    G Em
And all the harm I've ever done
  C D G
A-las it was to none but me
    G Em
And all I've done for want of wit
   C D
To memory now I can't recall
   G Em
So fill to me the parting glass
     C D G
Good night and joy be with you all

    G Em
Oh, all the comrades that e'er I had
        C D
They're sorry for my going away
    G Em
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
       C D G
They'd wish me one more day to stay
    G Em
But since it falls unto my lot
     C D
That I should rise and you should not
     G Em
I'll gently rise and softly call
     C D G
Good night and joy be with you all

   G Em
If I had money enough to spend
    C D
And leisure to sit awhile
      G Em
There is a fair maid in the town
     C D G
That sorely has my heart beguiled
    G Em
Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips
  C D
I own she has my heart enthralled
   G Em
So fill to me the parting glass
     C D G
Good night and joy be with you all

optional chorus between verses

   G Em
So fill to me the parting glass
    C D
And drink a health what e'er befalls
     G Em
I'll gently rise and softly call
     C D G
Good night and joy be with you all

optional repeat of last chorus line making preceding bar of G a half bar instead
